About Seed Program of Grameen Society

Background of Establishment

Seed Program of Grameen Society is a non-political, non-profitable and a non-government voluntary development organization.

Established in 2000 by a dedicated group of social workers with extensive grassroots experience, this organization aims to empower the poor, landless, and asset-less individuals by providing access to resources for productive activities and employment, ultimately enhancing their quality of life.

Its primary goals focus on improving the socio-economic, cultural, and environmental conditions of rural poor and disadvantaged women through capacity building, institution building, capital formation, and utilizing local resources. By adopting modern scientific techniques and a participatory development approach, it serves as a catalyst for progress alongside development partners. Since its inception, SPGS has significantly alleviated poverty for many rural destitute and starving individuals.

The organization is governed by a General Body of 21 members and an Executive Committee of 7, working to raise awareness and consciousness on social issues and rights.
