Grihayan Tahbil
Grihayan Tahbil (Housing project )
SEED Program of Grameen Society has been implementing the Grihayan Project since 2023 to address the housing crisis of homeless and ultra-poor families, with special focus on vulnerable women and people displaced by river erosion. The project is supported by the Grihayan Tahbil Fund of Bangladesh Bank.
Objectives of the Project
To provide permanent shelter for homeless families.
To offer a soft loan of Tk. 250,000 to poor rural families for constructing houses on their own land.
To create opportunities for beneficiary families to access Mamata Microfinance credit facilities, enabling them to engage in Income Generating Activities (IGA), achieve financial solvency, become self-reliant, and strengthen their social empowerment.
Working Area
The project is being implemented in Godagari upazila and Chapainawabganj Sadar of Rajshahi Division.
Project Activities (2023)
In 2023, SEED Program of Grameen Society successfully constructed 15 houses for distressed and uprooted families — 6 in Godagari and 9 in Chapainawabganj. Alongside housing support, beneficiaries also received financial assistance through the organization’s microfinance program, enabling them to participate in IGAs for sustainable livelihoods.
Monitoring and evaluation teams from the Grihayan Tahbil, Bangladesh Bank visited the constructed houses and highly commended the quality of construction and the outstanding performance of SEED Program of Grameen Society in implementing the project.
